Sour Night at the Local
Oct 4th 2012
Flemish Sour ale, 6,9 vol % alc Picobrouwerij Alvinne is a tiny craft Belgian brewery located in the small hamlet of Heule near the Belgian city of Kortrijk.
j.W Lees Moonraker Zymatore
English Strong Ale, 8% ALC This beer is so damn hard to find, I cant even get a good description of it. They take the base beer of the Moonraker and then age it in barrels, which bring on the sourness.
Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga
Wild Belgian Pale 6.5% ALC The Firefly, an artisan pale ale brewed in the Grand Cru tradition. Enjoy its golden effervescence and gentle hop aroma. Coriander and Grains of Paradise round out the spicy palate, melting o so softly into a silken finish of hoppiness and bliss
Bockor Cuvee De Jacobins Rouge
5.5% ALC The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for 18 months or more. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.
Trois Dames Grande Dame
7.2% ALC Trois Dames Grande Dame Oud Bruin is an unorthodox interpretation of its Belgian cousins. Complexly sweet and sour with a slightly bitter finish, this Flemish-style sour brown ale delicately balances notes of caramel, chocolate, toast, apricot, lactic acidity, leather, and wild stable yeast.
Rodenbach Grand Cru
6% ALC A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity.
Anderson Valley Port Barrel Stout
8.7% Brewed from only the finest hops, malted barley, yeast and pristine Boonville mineral water. We took our Barney Flats and put it into some port barrels from a fine valley winery, and waited 7 years. We finally have deemed it bahl hornin’ and now we have put it into a bottle. Less than 150 bottles are in existence. Lightly carbonated this beer melds the velvety chocolate notes of our stout with the rich berry and oak highlights from aging. A slight tart finish creates a beer drinking experience that few have had. A perfect marriage between the world famous beer and wine making traditions of the Anderson Valley.
